The Sustainability Review marks an important starting point for Encyclis, capturing a clear picture of our environmental, social and governance (ESG) impacts in 2022, and setting out the guiding principles and goals that will underpin our future progress.

We are building an exciting vision at Encyclis and this inaugural Sustainability Review outlines the actions we will be taking as we embark on our own decarbonisation journey.

Our aim is to be a leader in our industry, by pursuing new routes to decarbonise energy-from-waste. We are determined to be a force for change and to make a tangible contribution to society’s wider progress towards net zero.

In this review, you will learn about energy recovery, our expanding portfolio of state-of-the-art facilities, our ESG achievements to date, our governance structures, our social commitments and our environmental responsibilities.

Introducing the Sustainability Review, Encyclis CEO Owen Michaelson said: “I am proud of the progress we have made on sustainability and this review represents an important foundational step. There is a lot more for us to achieve in the coming year. We have an opportunity to lead the way in our industry as we decarbonise and support the circular economy. We are working at pace on a range of projects, including CCS delivery at Protos ERF in the UK Government Cluster Sequencing Programme, which will drive forward decarbonisation. We are absolutely determined to play our part in a low-carbon future and forthcoming reports will chart our progress in detail.

“For now, I would like to thank the Encyclis teams who have worked so hard to bring forward this milestone document and look forward to sharing our progress in the 2023 Sustainability Report."
