Two million tonnes at milestone at Rookery South ERF
Our Rookery South Energy Recovery Facility has reached a remarkable milestone with two million tonnes of residual waste treated since it started operating.
To give an idea of what that represents, it’s the equivalent of six Empire State Buildings!
Rookery South ERF, near Bedford, started full-scale operations in January 2022, converting several thousand tonnes of ‘black bag’ bin waste every week into essential baseload electricity for homes and businesses, as well as reusable resources such as metals and aggregates.
The two million tonnes milestone is a tribute to the hard work, skill and dedication of our operators, engineers and technicians, who work around the clock to ensure the highest levels of safety, efficiency and plant performance.
Rookery South ERF was the first operational plant in our growing central cluster of Energy-from-Waste facilities in the Midlands.
