Recruitment gets underway for Walsall ERF as construction continues to progress
Recruitment of key personnel for the operation and maintenance of Walsall Energy Recovery Facility is getting underway as the construction of the plant continues to move forward.
Senior positions are now being filled in advance of a wider recruitment campaign which will offer more than 40 permanent, skilled jobs ranging from plant management and operations to engineering and safety roles.
Members of Encyclis’ commercial and HR teams recently met candidates at the Walsall Works Jobs & Skills Expo. The event, organised by Walsall Council and hosted by Walsall College, was a great opportunity to talk to local people about the purpose of Walsall ERF and the local career opportunities it will create.
Commercial Director Andrew Howie said: “We had an amazing level of interest. It was a great event and very encouraging to see so many enthusiastic and experienced candidates.”
When it becomes operational next year, Walsall ERF will provide the West Midlands with capacity to safely and efficiently treat up to 436,000 tonnes per year of non-recyclable waste from homes and businesses.
The energy recovery process at the plant will convert residual waste into baseload electricity, reusable resources such as aggregates and metals, and heat for a proposed district heat network in Walsall.
The development of this world-class facility will strengthen and grow Encyclis’ core cluster of modern Energy-from-Waste facilities across the UK Midlands.
