Mark Burrows Smith

Chair

As Chair of Encyclis’ Board of Directors, Mark Burrows-Smith brings a wealth of industry experience to the governance of the company. His previous roles include an eight-year spell at Viridor, where he was promoted from Regional Director to Chief Operating Officer.

Serving on the Board of Viridor, he had full profit-and-loss responsibility for the company’s operations, comprising of over 3,000 employees and annual turnover of around £850m. He has held senior positions with a range of companies in the waste and resources sector, and continues to serve as Group Chief Executive and Chairman of Textile Recycling International Ltd.

Karl-Heinz Müller

Board Member

With vast experience across the European industrial and waste sectors, Karl Heinz-Muller is a key member of the Encyclis Board.

Before being appointed to the Board, he was Chief Operating Officer at EEW Energy from Waste, running 18 plants across Germany, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. Prior to that, he was Managing Director and Head of Production at VAW / Hydro Aluminium.

Anna Sundell

Board Member

Anna Sundell is Head of EQT Infrastructure in the UK and Ireland. Prior to joining EQT Partners, Anna worked at Nordea Corporate Finance in Stockholm, where she was engaged in M&A and ECM transactions.

Prior to Nordea, Anna worked at HSH Nordbank in Stockholm. She holds a M.Sc. degree in Business Administration from Stockholm School of Economics and a Law degree from Stockholm University.

Miriam Greenwood

Board Member

As a member of Encyclis’ Board of Directors, Miriam Greenwood is Chair of the company’s Sustainability Committee. She previously sat on the Council of Advisors to OFGEM, the UK energy regulator, and serves as an Adviser to the Mayor of London’s Efficiency Fund.

In addition to her current role, she is Chair of SMS Plc, Aquila Energy Efficiency Trust and Non-Executive Director at Canopius Group. Having more than 40 years of industry experience, her career spans energy, utilities and banking.

As a key member of Encyclis’ Board of Director, Elizabeth Barber is Chair of the company’s Audit & Risk Committee.

Her other roles include Senior Independent Director of Cranswick plc, Risk Committee Chair at HICL plc, Rick Committee Chair of the Institute of Chartered Accountants for England and Wales, Non-Executive Director at Renew Holdings plc, and Senior Independent Director of Sizewell C Ltd. Previously, she was Chief Executive and Chief Financial Officer of Kelda Group (Yorkshire Water), Audit Committee Chair at KCom plc, Deputy Chair of the University of Leeds, and Chair of the Yorkshire and Humber Climate Commission.

Lorenzo Prada

Board Member

Before joining EQT, where he is a Director, Lorenzo Prada was an Engagement Manager in McKinsey & Company's Private Equity practice in New York.
